Due to current health concerns, we have temporarily converted all of our local music lessons to an online live-streaming platform! This is not a new idea, but something we have been doing for around a year with our amazing out-of-state students!
How do live-streaming online music lessons work???
Students in lessons or classes are able to interact directly with their teacher in a live-streaming online platform called Zoom! The teacher gives instructions and is able to observe and provide feedback as the student learns new concepts and techniques! Lesson notes and materials are saved to a digital folder for each student to be able to access and print at home.
Benefits of online lessons at this time:
- not have to miss music lessons
- keep things as normal as possible
- get extra practice time
- learn some new skills
- approach music from a new perspective
- fight boredom
- give students something productive to focus on
- enjoy social interaction while not risking health
Fun stuff we’ve been able to do with online music lessons:
- play music games
- get new music apps
- provide musical inspirations for the students
- have contests for practicing
- do virtual performances
- find ways to give back to the community while staying home
During this time of increased isolation, many parents are finding that music lessons are vital to helping their children maintain a positive outlook! Music is a great form of stress relief and provides a positive emotional outlet. Live streaming with the teacher and fellow students add to the feeling of community while at home!
