About Kim Dale
Hi! My name is Kim Dale and I am the owner of Innovative Music & Arts Studio!
Our studio was started because of my love for music, my love for teaching, and my desire to share the gift of music with others!
Training & Experience
My music background started when I began piano lessons as a young child. My mom was one of my first piano teachers and I continue to give lessons on the piano that was given to her by her grandmother when she started piano lessons as a child.
Over time, my musical interests grew and additional instruments were added. I studied harp, voice, violin, handbells, and later added guitar and ukulele. My parents deserve a lot of appreciation for making me practice! They always seemed to find creative ways to motivate us kids – which often involved performing in front of groups.
I developed a love for sharing music with others through performance and teaching! I began teaching music in 2000 and continued in various capacities since that time. This has included teaching lessons, classes and workshops in piano, voice, harp, guitar, ukulele and handbells, leading children’s choir, directing three different handbell choirs at churches/colleges, and teaching workshops on music ministry.

Teaching Style
I adapt to the learning style and interests of each student, often developing creative ways to help them learn the music, theory and technique – including interactive games, visuals, worksheets, flashcards, technology, etc. I also make sure to find repertoire for their favorite songs written at their level so that they are able to play music that they know and love.
My goal is to help our students become proficient in music theory, ear training and technique on their chosen instrument. Ultimately, I want to help them develop a life-long love for music and the skills to enjoy and share their music with others!
Performance Background
I have been performing since 1996 on a variety of instruments, including piano, harp, handbell ensemble/solo and vocal solo. I served as a church pianist for several years and I have coached other church pianists in congregational accompaniment. I have traveled several tours with my family’s music group as we performed in churches across the country. I spent several years performing solo vocal or harp concerts a week for special events within the community.
At present, my focus is primarily on teaching music in my studio.

On a More Personal Note
I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and move to Northwest Indiana in 2008. I now live in Valparaiso with my husband, Steve, and our four children. We love to hang out as a family and go on fun day trips. Each of our little ones loves music and has fun playing on the instruments that I teach.
